BROADCASTER

As a young violinist, Meg Bragle spent her Saturday mornings tuned in to her local classical station, eagerly calling in to request her favorite music—usually something by Beethoven. The hosts were always kind, often playing her pick (most often the Fifth Symphony), and in doing so, helped nurture her early love of both classical music and radio.

Meg began studying violin at age three and imagined a future in orchestral music. But everything shifted in college when she fell in love with singing and communicating through words and music. That discovery set the course for a distinguished career as a professional mezzo-soprano, with performances across the U.S., U.K., and Europe. Career highlights include appearances at the BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall with Sir John Eliot Gardiner and the English Baroque Soloists, the Aldeburgh Festival, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, and Prague’s Rudolfinum for the Spring Festival. Her discography spans cornerstone works like Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Easter and Ascension Oratorios, Mozart’s Requiem, and world premieres by composers such as Daron Hagen and Toby Twining.

Radio found its way back into her life by chance while living in northern Michigan. While working at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, Meg began hosting the Saturday request show and weekday Afternoon Classics on Interlochen Public Radio. What started as a happy coincidence soon became a natural extension of her musical life—offering a new way to connect with audiences and share the music she loves.

Now based in Philadelphia, Meg is thrilled to be part of the team at WRTI 90.1, where she hosts Afternoon Classical weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m. Whether on stage or on air, she brings the same spirit of curiosity, communication, and joy—sharing music with warmth and a deep respect for its power to connect us all.
